Home Guard helmet.
Khaki painted Mk.II No.2C mild steel helmet issued to the Home Guard. The mild steel helmet was an attempt to redress the shortage of helmets available to civilian organisations post Dunkirk and was signified, as in this case, by the drilling of three holes to the rim.
This example in good condition featuring a 1941 dated shell by Briggs Motor Bodies, Dagenham and a 1940 dated MkII liner by the same manufacturer. Some marking and very minor corrosion to exterior, interior has some residue but liner and chinstrap in clean condition.
