Fire Guard MKII Helmet with Eye Shield.

Standard MkII helmet with a 1939 dated, size 7 liner by Briggs Motor Bodies with attached eye shield/face guard. Face guard is held in place by two long springs clamped to the side of the helmet by two brackets which also allows the guard to be lifted and retained to the rear of the helmet. The shield has six countered slots backed by mesh to allow for a large as field of vision as possible but fully protecting the eyes. These guards were intended for use by Fire Guards or ARP personnel who were dealing with incendiaries where protection from thermite spitting and glare were advantageous. Both helmet and shield in good/excellent condition with some light splashes of paint to shield. Uncommon item.
