Chromed white metal and enamel pinback badge worn by the staff of the Ministry of Health Evacuation Hostels. The hostels were conceived as part of the Government's 1939 evacuation scheme as a means of removing pregnant women away from danger prior to admission to maternity hospitals. Maker marked ' HWM ' (Millers). In good, clean used condition.
