War Service Badge - Joseph Sankey & Sons.

Chrome and enamel, pin back badge for employees of Joseph Sankey & Sons Ltd. A so-called ' numbered Fattorini ' where the manufacturer ' Thos Fattorini, B'ham ' produced individually numbered badges to enable recognition and to act as a visual pass for war workers. This impressive badge was for workers at the Wellington works in Shropshire. Joseph Sankey were heavily involved in war production as producers of steel components, one of the more obvious being steel helmets which were stamped ' J.S.S. '.
