Gas Indicator - For Detecting Exploded Bombs.
Carbon monoxide detector for use in detecting whether bomb entry points conceal a camouflet ( where a bomb has exploded underground without producing a crater ). The kit contains a metal case which would contain a disc of paper which had previously had a drop of Palladium Chloride solution applied. The metal case would be lowered via string into the hole and if when returned to the surface, the marker paper had darkened, carbon monoxide is present and the crater should be treated with caution. Kit contains case, rubber packer, spare discs and a now empty phial in a protective case and instruction sheet. An essential part of the bomb reconnaissance officer's equipment.
