ARP Emergency Carbide Incident Lamp.
A 1938 dated ARP emergency carbide incident lamp by G.S.Milne Co.Ltd., of Deptford. This emergency carbide work lamp would be used at incidents where electricity supplies were interrupted. Adding water to calcium carbide to the storage container at the bottom, acetylene gas would be produced, this would pass up through the handle and on to the burner. It produced a bright white light, which was reflected by the shield.
