WW2 National Pigeon Service badge.

Enamel and silver gilt button hole badge for the National Pigeon Service who provided trained homing pigeons for essential use by the RAF, Army, Home Guard, SOE and Special Forces to relay urgent messages back to England. Their enrolled keepers were issued with a numbered badge, in this case No.2333. This example by Maples & Beasley, B'ham is in excellent, bright condition with minor toning to the reverse. Increasingly uncommon badge.
