Head Warden's Civil Defence Tunic.
1942 ' Blouses A.R.P.57 ' Civil Defence ' battledress blouse ' style tunic. Size 17 - 5ft 11ins and over Height, Chest 36ins to 38ins and 33-35ins Waist. Clear label indicating manufacture by Montague Burton Ltd, Leeds with WD inspection marks to interior indicating manufacture in 1942. This example carries the rank chevrons for a Head Warden with embroidered Warden titles to both sleeve. CD breast badge with no area designation which is not at all uncommon, surmounted by medal ribbons indicating service during WW1. Five printed war service chevrons to bottom of r/h sleeve with an ARP whistle mounted on a white lanyard to opposite sleeve. The white lanyard was regulation, when a lanyard was worn, for the London Civil Defence services so potentially this example emanates from the London region.This example in excellent, clean condition with no evidence of moth damage and increasingly difficult to acquire.
