WI Produce Guild lapel badge.

Brass and enamel, pinback lapel badge for a member of the Womens Institute Produce Guild. In 1938 The Produce Guild was started for those members that were interested in gardening and cooking. Members of this Guild went through special tuition and a series of proficiency tests to improve cookery skills to teach others, demonstrate or judge. The focus was on improving knowledge and skills relating to food and played an imporatant role during the War in the effort to feed the nation. In good, used condition.
