C1942 ' Britain under Shellfire ' by Frank Illingworth. Illingworth, a journalist, had been a member of the auxiliary fire service in Dover and in this 64pg paperback he tells the story of the beginning of the bombardment of Dover by German long range guns based in the Pas de Calais. Starting with railway guns and going on to the purpose built batteries the author outlines the effects on the populace of Dover. Good, used condition with minor marking and small tears to the graphic cover.
