Fougasse Energy Saving Labels.

Adhesive labels with the exhortation ' Switched on switches & turned-on-taps Make happy Huns & joyful Japs ' with two cartoon figures of Hitler and a Japanese soldier. These two examples feature the work of ' Fougasse ' the pseudonym of Cyril Kenneth Bird. Working for the Ministry of Information, War Office, London Transport, National Savings amongst others, Bird was probably most famous for his ' Careless talk ' series of posters but produced much other work. One example better than the other but good legible condition with adhesive to the reverse.
