Gas Mask Handbag.

One of the more difficult items of Home Front memorabilia to acquire, this example of a luxury gas mask handbag is in better than average condition. Made of blue leather with a watered silk effect interior with separate mirror and lipstick compartment and a separate purse. The gas mask is contained in a seperate box container under the handbag compartment which is then concealed by a lined flap held closed by two pop fasteners. The gas mask contained therein is a 1939 dated ' Medium ' civilian respirator made by Avon and is in good, supple condition. A name has been inked to a piece of plaster stuck to the filter. Minor rubbing through use with both handles complete, a fine example of the replacement for a cardboard box by the fashion conscious wartime woman.
