Embroidered Civil Defence Reserve Regional Column X Shoulder title. The Civil Defence Reserves were borne from the acute manpower shortages experienced by all the home front services and were to provide a mobile group of all CD services. The Regional Column was a unit of between 40 and 50 personnel providing it's own administration, first aid, rescue, decontamination and dispatch riders. Utility parties were made up of men sent from local authorities, the column was then dispatched to the area of most need.
