W.V.S. Street Leader Armband.
The WVS Street Leader was a position created by a 1942 decentralisation of the WVS organisation to mirror that of the Warden's service and an encouragement of WVS members to undertake elementary CD training. Thus new posts were created within the WVS Housewives Service with the Street Leader being tasked with liaising with groups of 50 houses. With the 1943 introduction of the grey armband for members of the WVS not in possession of uniform who were engaged on work where ' recognition of status is desirable ', those with appointed tasks had the opportunity to purchase armbands with these tasks indicated. Excellent, clean condition with some minor moth nips to the reverse and a W.V.S.CD badge pinned to the top. Scarce
