National Garden Club lapel badge.
With the advent of the ' Dig for Victory ' campaign and the explosion of horticultural endeavour the National Garden Club was formed in 1940. With its motto ' Dig to Eat ' the NGC provided advice and practical help in the form of seeds and magazines to those embarking on vegetable production for the first time. A silver washed and enamel lapel badge ( 22mm ) was provided to members. This example by J.R.Gaunt, London has a half moon label fitting and is good used condition with some minor surface abrasions, uncommon.
