Chrome and enamel, pin back lapel badge for employees of John.I.Thorneycroft engaged on national service. Numbered to the reverse alongside presumably the owner's scratched initials with manufacturer's details of Marples & Beasley.
Thorneycroft were a well known ship building company with their main yard in Woolston, Southampton. They were known for the construction of LCAs ( Landing Craft Assault ) Good, used condition with marked but undamaged enamel.
