37.5 x 25 cm poster ' Carry Your Identity Card Always '. Printed for HMSO by St.Michael's Press Ltd, London, this poster was printed early in the War following the May 1940 announcement requiring the cards to be filled in and carried. The 1939 National Registration Act had required a national register of the population of Britain to be undertaken after which everyone regardless of age was allocated a letter and number code and a national registration card. The carrying of this card became central to the general administration of life during the War and this poster was an exhortation to remember this. Scarce poster with some minor condition issues-pinholes to the corner and some damage to centre top.
