ARP/CD Splinter Goggles.

Introduced early in the War these goggles were worn by A.R.P. personnel to protect eyes from spitting incendiary devices and bomb splinters. Several types of these goggles are known, this up market example has a solid bridge with hinged ' wings ' with an adjustable strap and foam rubber padding to the interior. The central section has formed eyepieces containing blued glass with a further protector with a cross which could be rotated providing more vision when required. Crackle paint finish with no obvious manufacturer details. Foam rubber now a little degraded and crumbly with the head band retaining some elasticity. Uncommon.
