Fire Guard Face mask.
Resembling a prop from a horror film this scarce Fire Guard face mask is quite crudely assembled but commercially available at the time. An early attempt to provide facial protection against incendiary bombs. Sheet steel construction with rolled edges with separate, spot-welded nose piece with two strips of rubber to act as padding. Originally the mask was retained by cloth or string ties which are now missing although their brackets remain. Hand-painted dark finish. Good, used condition and scarce.
