German WW2 2-kg B2EZ Incendiary Bomb.

Scarce example of the German 2-kg B2EZ incendiary bomb. The B2E was a World War II German 2kg incendiary bomb designed with a 5-inch explosive nose to act as an anti-personnel device. It was a refined version of the standard 1kg (B1E), designed to detonate around 7 minutes after impact, specifically to kill or injure firefighters and fire guards.
This bomb consists of three main components: a tail unit, an incendi-ary body, and an H.E. attachment. The incendiary body is tapered at the after end to fit into the long tail cone and is reduced in diameter at the forward end to fit into the steel H.E. container. A steel plug is fitted into the after end of the incendiary body, while at the forward end are located an igniter pellet, a distance piece, a relay pellet and a black powder separating charge and housing. The H.E. container accommodates the penthrite charge and the fuze. The fuze is armed by a long arming rod wich passes through the tail section and locks a spring-out safety pin.
Steel nose dated 1942 with manufacturer codes ' hxo ' indicating Maschinenfabrik "Deutschland" GmbH, Dortmund. Thermite body has numerous inspection marks including a ' Z ' with faint printed inspection codes to tail fin. Elongated tail fin retains the original paint and is misshapen probably damage incurred after having been dropped further evidence of this indicated by witness marks to body. Steel nose has been cleaned and is free of corrosion.
The 2kg incendiary is, in my experience, more uncommon than the Butterfly bomb and is difficult to obtain.
