Firewatcher's pattern helmet, introduced from 1941 to provide an alternative to the standard MkII which did not consume so much high grade steel which was required for ballistically proof helmets. On widespread issue to second line Civil Defence services but primarily issued to firewatchers and the Fire Guard. Manufactured marked AMC and dated 1941 to both shell and liner. Although a common pattern, this example unusual for featuring a 'Fire Guard' decal to the front and a painted ownership to the interior 'Whitehall & Hillmorton Rd Sector'. In good overall condition with minor spots of corrosion and a 15% approx. loss of the decal.
