Enamel and gilt, pinback lapel badge for the Air Raid Defence League. The League was founded in 1939 to 'secure effective air raid protection as a primary object of national policy', later the League was incorporated with the National Association of Air Raid Wardens and it is from this period that the badge derives with the inclusion of 'ARW' to the centre. In excellent, bright condition and maker marked to the reverse 'J.Gaunt, London'.
