General Civilian Respirator for use by asthmatics.

This version of the General Civilian Respirator is identical to the standard version, but was fitted with a flapper type exhale valve. The lack of any type of exhale valve was one of the major problems with the General Civilian Respirator, and as such this modification was made in small numbers to some later versions of the mask to aid those with trouble exhaling hard enough to push air out through the sides of the mask, including asthmatics. This version was made in much smaller numbers, and is more difficult to find today. In excellent condition with some minor corrosion to the adjustment buckles and one partial tear to one strap. Manufactured by Avon in 1940 and packed in the standard cardboard gasmask box which is in good condition with some minor marks and tears.
