Auxiliary Bomb Disposal Unit lapel badge.

Chrome and enamel lapel badge for the Bell Punch Co.Ltd Auxiliary Bomb Disposal Unit. ABDs were created from factory volunteers who detected, reported and assisted RE bomb disposal squads in disposing of UXBs. Of the less than 200 squads countrywide the Bell Punch Co. unit was one of the smaller amounting to 12 personnel. All of the units were incorporated into local Home Guard battalions in September 1942 where their numbers ceased to grow. This badge in excellent, clean and bright condition and is particularly scarce.
