Butterfly bomb warning sign.

30 x 45cms approx. enamelled sign giving a warning to the danger of Butterfly bombs that may lie in hedges and ditches. These signs were a feature of areas that had been subject to a butterfly bomb attack as despite the knowledge of the numbers dropped in a raid (ascertained by counting the containers), they were notoriously difficult to account for because of their size and ability to snag in trees or undergrowth.
Sign in excellent condition with some very minor ' nibbles ' to the edges. There were two main types of sign differing in wording the other warning of bombs in the vicinity. Scarce.
