No.76 SIP Grenade.
A scarce example of a No.76 ' Hand & Projector Grenade '. Invented by Allbright & Wilson the self-igniting phosphorous hand or Northover Projector grenade was quite rudimentary . A specially made bottle ( slightly stronger bottle for use in the Northover , denoted by a green cap ) containing phosphorous, benzine mixture and a strip of latex rubber which would ignite on breaking of the bottle and the exposure of the phosphorous to air. Uncommon survivor.
