Printed heavy duty cotton G.I.O. armlet for use by Gas Identification Officers of the Civil Defence services. Introduced in 1944 to indicate the specialist qualification of GIO who were to indicate the ' Designation and Identification of War Gases '. A particularly scarce armband and in good condition with some glue residue to reverse where previously mounted.
