A good example of the standard Mk II steel helmet for use by the Police. Unmarked MkII No.2A shell indicating a manganese steel reject with identifying single holes to the rim with white stencilling ' POLICE ' to front. 1940 dated size 7 1/4 liner MkII liner. Excellent, clean example with some minor scuffing to finish. read more

M.O.H. Hospital Service lapel badge.
Chrome and enamel pinback lapel badge for Ministry of Health 'Hospital Service'. The badge was initially issued to volunteer domestic staff giving part-time hospital service for over 96 hours per month. In April 1942 the issue was extended to all hospital staff other than doctors and nurses. In excellent, clean condition, manufacturer marked 'HWM' (Millers). read more

Air Raid Warden sign.
Cast, ' Air Raid Warden ' sign. Originally with polished highlights with paint infilling, this example has clearly had various layers of old paint. 230mm x 32mm. These signs were variously used for door or desk signs but clearly this characterful example has spent it's life outside and is not one of the current spate of reproductions. read more
First Police Reserve lapel badge.
Chrome and enamel lapel badge with half moon fitting by Thos. Fattorini, B'ham for the First Police Reserve. This police organisation comprised retired police officers who had volunteered to serve again during an emergency. As manpower demands grew during the war the FPR amounted to just over 2000 men by 1945.

WLA Timber Corps beret badge.
The Timber Corps was a seperate part of the WLA formed in 1942, wearing the same uniform as the WLA but with the addition of a beret with a distinctive and unique badge. By 1946 some 6000 women had served in the woods, forests and timber mills helping to replace drafted timber workers and to help to accomodate the extra demand for timber.
