A scarce pair of original British Women's Land Army shoes made in 1943 by Coles of Burton Latimer, Northamptonshire. Made from a brown coloured leather featuring a pebbled finish with five eyelets and no toe cap. Also includes publications by the Scottish Office and various other Parliamentary departments. Good, slightly foxed condition. Useful and uncommon reference and is a good indication of the level of preparedness at the outbreak of war.  read more

Police Auxiliary Messenger Service cap badge.

White metal and enamel cap badge for the Police Auxiliary Messenger Service. Two lugs to reverse with securing pin. Good, used condition with some minor surface abrasions.
PAMS consisted of 500 full time and a large number of part time youths between 16 and 18 who were employed as Police messengers. Put into uniform in 1941 and disbanded in 1945, unusual to find a cap badge.  read more

1938ed,35pgs manual for London Transport staff covering the basics of ARP. Starting with an introduction to the staff the manual concentrates mainly on poison gas but includes sections on bombs and assistance to passengers.
