Card box issued by the London and North Eastern Railway A.R.P. Dept. entitled ' Minor Ambulance Equipment ' and listing contents. Containing 2 x triangular bandages contained in LNER monogrammed envelopes, 1 x boxed first aid dressing and a tourniquet. Carton now a little battered but an uncommon survivor.  read more

Holland County Council Gas mask label and ear plugs.

Gas mask label issued by Holland County Council ( Lincolnshire ) A.R.P. dept. indicating size and ownership. In this example made out to a Boston address. Accompanying the label is a set of rubber ear plugs of the pattern frequently found with civilian gas masks. Both of these examples were taken from a severely perished gas mask that was thrown away.  read more

Incendiary Bomb Fin Souvenir - Birmingham.

Tail fin from the standard German 1kg incendiary bomb taken as a souvenir in 1941. Now painted black with the inscription ' Shirley April 16 1941 ' stamped to the top of the fin. Shirley is part of the Metropolitan Borough of Solihull in the SE of the greater Birmingham area.  read more

Beating the Invader Leaflet.

1941 double-sided leaflet published by the Ministry of Information and the Ministry of Home Security dealing with the prospect of being invaded. Headed by a message from the Prime Minister and offers practical advice dealing with the immobilsation of vehicles, the authorities, and instructions in the event of invasion. Good, used condition, has been folded with other minor creases and tears.  read more

Home Guard Issue Shotgun Cartridges

WD 12 Bore shotgun cartridges widely issued to the Home Guard in an effort to make a shotgun a more effective weapon by making a heavier projectile load. These cartridges were 12 bore SG containing 9x8.mm pellets and are clearly broad arrow ' SG ' marked to the side of the cartridge and manufactured by Eley-Kynoch. Hygenic Domestic Sandbag made from linen designed to be filled with dry sand and kept in the attic, loft etc in order to tackle incendiary bombs. Approx 44 x 32cms with printed instructions and in used condition with some foxing and minor damage, has been folded.  read more

ARP lapel badge. 38/39 London hallmarked silver ARP lapel badge with pin fitting as commonly issued to women. To the obverse a number ' C6608 ' has been stamped, a practice that has been observed with Birmingham ARP issues although I am sure not confined to this area exclusively.  read more
