Embroidered, white on dark blue wool, unofficial Fire Guard badge for the CD beret. No official FG headwear badge exsisted after the 1943 reorganisation but demand was satisfied from commercial sources who based their design on the exsisting CD beret badge. 1939 white painted MkII helmet for wear by a Rescue Party leader. Clearly dated to rim with manufacturer's details obscured by chinstrap mounting. MkI, size 6 3/4 liner by J.Compton Sons & Webb Ltd dated 1939. Hand painted finish with ' R ' to front and rear with scapes and abrasions commensurate with the use expected by rescue parties.
