Cotton armband for wear by a member of a Mobile Voluntary Aid Detachment. Embroidered badge to obverse with a label to reverse with details ' 17312 BRCS Che ? 60 ? '. Voluntary Aid Detachments, VADs were made up of British Red Cross and St John Ambulance members. They provided trained people to act as reserves to the medical services, Mobile VADs could be sent anywhere.
