Printed heavy duty cotton G.I.O. armlet for use by Gas Identification Officers of the Civil Defence services. Introduced in 1944 to indicate the specialist qualification of GIO who were to indicate the ' Designation and Identification of War Gases '. National Fire Service women's ' ski ' cap. On general issue from 1943, the reinforced cotton, peaked ski cap was intended to replace the FS style cap for wear on duty when not wearing a helmet.
