Whilst unable to definitively identify the exact location in Cornwall, the men wear NFS 19 breast badges indicating the Fire Force covering Cornwall and the photographs bear the imprint of a Bodmin photographer. These badges were introduced in 1940 for workers at the various factories across the UK but were phased out from 1942 because of the their consumption of valuable raw materials.
