A scarce example of the side cap worn by volunteers of the the Mechanised Transport Corps. Probably supplied by the official uniform supplier to the MTC, Lillywhites of Piccadilly and Knightsbridge but no label present. Hand-made, small armband with ties intended for wear by child evacuees form London County Council administered schools. Various differing armbands of this pattern exist but broadly conform to the same design often with differing types of tape forming the lettering. Gilt and enamel lapel badge for members of the 44th London Battalion Home Guard Old Comrades Association. The 44th was one of seven special battalions composed of employees from the London Passenger Transport Board who crewed the buses and underground trains. Half moon lapel fitting to the reverse.
