Printed Home Guard Bomb Disposal sleeve badge. Special badge introduced in August 1943 for members of the Home Guard Auxiliary Bomb Disposal Units. Badge was intended to be worn on the lower left sleeve of the BD blouse.

Contained in a grubby Thornes' Toffee tin, the collection mostly consists of AA fuze fragments with a small number of bomb fragments. This was formerly the property of a resident of a house in Armley, Leeds and was recently found in a house clearance. Printed blue/black on khaki Home Guard titles worn by the 1st City of Glasgow Battalion Home Guard. Clear evidence of having been removed from a uniform and in good used condition with some light marking. Like most of the Scottish units, their insignia is less common despite the number of battalions in the City. read more
