Officially issued WVS hat. Green felt body with maroon crepe ribbon with the standard WVS Civil Defence chrome and enamel badge. This style of hat was common to the ARP and Civil Defence services and this example manufactured by Sutton of Stockport has been inspected by WD inspectors indicated by the inspection stamps which also give an inspection date of 1943 ( letter N ). Silver and enamel, pinback badge for a member of the Civil Nursing Reserve, Pattern N.A.36. The CNR was recruited initially to augment staff at hospitals during war but was later extended to provide staff for FAPs in shelters and rest centres. Insignia includes his boxed, silver ARP badge, ARP great badge, Rescue titles, senior warden rank chevrons and Oldbury area designation in Cash's tape, typical of Midlands' titles.
