60 x 30cms approx. single sided, steel and enamel shelter sign. A common sight in most towns and cities during the War pointing the way to the nearest shelter. This example is in generally good condition with the usual enamel loss around fixing holes with some marking but the sign looks very presentable. Difficult to source. read more

Screen printed cotton armband with corner ties for use by coordinators of the London County Council Evacuation scheme. Largely worn by teachers and other volunteers tasked with the onerous task of organising, accompanying and looking after the groups of children evacuated from the Capital at various times during the War. Enamel and silver gilt button hole badge for the National Pigeon Service who provided trained homing pigeons for essential use by the RAF, Army, Home Guard, SOE and Special Forces to relay urgent messages back to England.
