Gas-mask container in the form of a biscuit tin produced by Reads Ltd. of Liverpool. Originally Reads produced these tins for for Elkes Biscuits whose name was impressed in the bottom of the lid. Presumably either having ceased the contract or for reasons of economy this was stopped and this particular example has no name . Brass and enamel lapel badge for BSA Tools Ltd ARP Fire Service.
BSA Tools were part of the larger and famous Birmingham Small Arms Company Limited (BSA). BSA Tools were makers of machine tools much of which were involved in aircraft manufacture during the war.

96pg with paper pictorial wrapper 'Land at War' was published in 1945 authored by Laurie Lee although not acknowledged. Tells the official story of British farming including the Land Army, illustrated with photographs throughout. In good, clean condition with very minor rusting to staples and chipped spine. read more
National Registration ID Card Under Sixteen.
Issued in 1943 alongside the new National Registration cards, the ' temporary buff card for children under sixteen ' was issued at birth or as a replacement in the event of damage or loss. Intended to last until the holder's sixteenth birthday when it would be replaced by the standard identity card, this example issued in September 1944 to an address in Chesham and re-endorsed in 1951. Wartime St John Ambulance Brigade Helmet.
Black painted wartime MkII helmet with a St John Ambulance Brigade transfer to the front. Helmet does not have any obvious manufacture or date markings but does have a size 7, 1939 dated liner by ' ANP '. Interestingly the transfer appears to have been overlaid over an earlier red motif ( red cross possibly ? ) which is evident in small areas where the transfer has been chipped or scratched.
