Printed, probably by Calico Printers Ltd., this sign was used by Northumbrian Home Guard units. Featuring the County Council's arms, referred to as St.Oswald's Shield after the first Christian king of Northumberland. This badge was worn by paid and volunteer workers for the ARC in the various clubs that were established around the UK to provide comforts and welfare to US servicemen.
